Interesting facts about MG

  • The MG Car Company Limited - with the MG standing for Morris Garages - was founded during the 1920s in Britain by Cecil Kimber, and was dedicated to making fantastic, stylish sports cars
  • Best loved for its good-looking two seaters with open tops, the company also made saloons and coupés. The MG business stayed with Mr William Morris until 1935, after which he released shares to the public
  • MG is now a part of The Rover Group and has been since 1986, and in 1992 they revived the MG RV8 and 3 years later began production of the all new MGF, becoming the first mass produced MG sports car since production of the MGB ceased in 1980
  • Since birth, MG have always had a soft spot for motorsports. From the early 1930’s, MG started producing cars made specifically for competitions and dedicated to racing. This meant cars like the MG C-Type of 1931 and the MG Q-Type of 1934 were never too shy of the race track.
  • In 2005 Nanjing Automobile Group bought the rights to the brand and set up a new company, MG Motor
